Several years ago, my Father passed away. As my Brother and myself were talking around the dining room table, preparing his eulogy, he said the most amazing thing to me. "I know who Dad was, but I don't know anything about him." I instinctively wanted to disagree, but as I thought about my Dad, I realized that what he said was true.
I know who my Father was, what kind of a Father, Husband and amazing human being he was, but I didn't know anything about his life outside of my experiences with him. I realized he had told me some pretty amazing "one liner's", but I didn't know the story behind them.
He said, "I remember when a buddy and I almost got caught in a harem during WWII." That line begs many questions, what in the heck were you doing in a harem? how did you get in there in the first place? how did you get out? what were you doing in there?
Can you see where I'm going with this? I wish I knew the answers to all these questions. I wish I knew the story behind the "one liner", but I don't and I never will.
After this experience, I became acquainted with an amazing company that offers individuals the opportunity to become publishers. I realized that I didn't want anyone else to feel the same sense of disappointment that I felt. I am so committed to helping others design, write and publish their stories for themselves, loved ones, posterity and ancestors.
This process has brought many amazing individuals into my life. I have heard and continue to hear wonderful stories and those stories are as varied and interesting as the people that write them.
Stories have the ability to connect generations to one another in an interesting and rewarding way.
